11-26-17 Day 26 Under Hodgkin's Lymphoma Siege

How E Spent most of Saturday--asleep in the chair.
We had a relaxing, quiet Thanksgiving weekend. Everyone who came over had flu shots and were all well.

We had family over Thursday, friends over on Friday, and watched the Iron Bowl and various movies on Saturday. No outings, just hanging out at the house.

E starting feeling really bad Saturday afternoon. Said her ear and throat hurt, and she was achy. We took her temp numerous times and kept a watch on it. She didn't run a fever, so we kept on rolling. She slept most of the day and took pain medication for the first time since the chemo in patient.
Five of the crew picking out the family tree.
Today, we took the healthy kids to pick out the tree at our local farm, Neely Christmas Tree Farm in Thorsby, Alabama (which is spectacular, by the way). (Side note: It was weird not having Hannah and Elise there.)

Anyhoo, E ran a low-grade fever this morning. Just 99.5. We took it under the arm as advised, but the mom in me decided to shift to under the tongue.
100.4.
100.5.
100.7.
Called the nurse hot line at the clinic. Told us to roll in immediately to Children's.

Channeling her inner super hero.
We got on the road. There was a wreck somewhere between the freeway exit closest to our house and the next town up. Traffic was being diverted through our small town. Had to find back roads to the hospital, which is roughly 60 miles from our house. Took 90 minutes to drive around the world and finally arrive.

In the ER, did flu and strep tests and blood work. Flu and strep came back negative. Blood work still rolling. Started IV antibiotics. Neutrophils (white blood cells) down to 120. Normal neutrophil count is between 2,500-6,000 depending upon age, health, etc. Elise's were 4,500 last Wednesday. 120 today. (That's not a typo.) That and the fever spike were cause for concern, so she was admitted to the hospital.

So, now we are under a watch with a fever that has been climbing all afternoon/evening. Currently, we are at 101.9 and praying.  Upped meds, watching for cultures. She shouldn't have visitors and can't leave the hospital room.  Y'all know what to do.
Posted on the door to our room.

Not sure that's how that works, Babe.
And, Becky, those masks are fabulous, Dahling.
Finally got into a room around 8:00 and I found us some
healthy dinner.
